Lamborghini Gallardo CommercialLamborghini made this brilliant TV ad which may be one of the best car ads ever made. You'd expect as much if Lamborghini makes one of the best vehicles ever to tear up the streets of New York City.
It is not your typical auto ad. It is four minutes long instead of 30 seconds, and it's in black and white instead of color. Another distinct feature is its use of music from beginning to end. The U2 sound track is perfect for the ad. There is no talking. No cheesy "zoom zoom." There's good irony, too. The ad for one of the fastest cars in the world is in slow motion. The car is turning heads--everyone (men and women) and everything (yes, the dogs, too)--can't not look at the Lamb. A man on his cell breaks his connection, distracted; a policeman directing traffic points in the wrong direction, distracted.
A businessman walking down the street turns before the car arrives. It must be the wicked soundtrack. Message: its reputation precedes it. The absence of color is not a problem. There are plenty of shots of the light reflecting off the polished sexy black car.
It's not all in slow motion; the Gallardo speeds up for a few playful donuts towards the end.
Then it overtakes a few cars on the highway. Next there are the cops who can't miss it. This is the disclaimer.
Fun to watch. And once is not enough. There's nothing complicated about it; it's just cool--and powerful.
